Weddings and Funeral Services Banned in Georgia
Weddings, funeral services, and similar events are banned in Georgia starting today. This is stated in the decree adopted by the government to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The ban will remain in effect until April 21, as reported by Aliq.ge.
Specifically, according to the decree:
- During the state of emergency, gatherings and demonstrations as stipulated by Georgia's law on "gatherings and demonstrations" are prohibited.
- Gatherings of more than 10 individuals in public places are banned.
- This regulation applies to both outdoor and indoor public spaces, as long as they are not serving residential purposes.
- Social events involving more than 10 individuals (such as funerals, weddings, and other events) are prohibited.
The prohibition on gathering more than 10 individuals in public places does not apply to:
- Healthcare facilities, state institutions, military forces, correctional facilities, law enforcement agencies
- Public transport, as long as their operation has not been suspended during the state of emergency
- The execution of construction and infrastructure work
It should be noted that the government of Georgia declared a state of emergency on March 21, which will last until April 21. The decision to ban weddings, funeral services, and similar events took effect today.
