Veolia Water Addresses Rumors About Coronavirus Transmission Through Water

Veolia Water has issued a statement in which it particularly mentions: “It is known that various rumors and public anxiety are an inevitable companion during difficult times. The more tense the situation, the more fantastic these rumors become, sometimes transitioning from the realm of gossip to conspiracy theories, without any logic.

Recently, one of the news websites reported that the virus could also be transmitted through water if the water is not clean. It is clearly known that not every 'material' related to the coronavirus can be published in Armenia. The RA COMMANDANT has set clear requirements in this regard, which the aforementioned website has ignored. As a result, we have a 'news' item that could only incite panic among readers instead of informing them.

Veolia Water reiterates that, according to the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Republic of Armenia (ncdc.am):

“The virus spreads from person to person through close contact with a person infected with coronavirus COVID-19, through contact with droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, or by touching surfaces or objects contaminated with droplets produced by an infected person’s cough or sneeze (for example, door handles or tables), and then touching one’s mouth or face.”

Additionally, the virus cannot be transmitted through drinking water because it is mandatory to chlorinate the water before it is supplied to consumers, thereby eliminating any risk of infection.
