The Map Posted in Jerusalem About the Genocide Shows the Ottoman Empire Fragmented
Turkish media outlets have focused on English maps posted on the walls of the Armenian quarter in Jerusalem. According to Ermenihaber, there are complaints that the areas of the Ottoman Empire are depicted as fragmented on the maps titled 'Armenian Genocide 1915-1923.'
Turkish circles express concern that if the maps posted by the Armenian church in Jerusalem are torn down or removed, Israel may detain them on charges of 'restricting freedom.' 'Even if the maps are removed, new ones will be put up anyway,' the source stated.
It is also noted that the Ottoman Turkey is divided into two parts on the map. The western part is labeled as Ottoman, while certain regions in the eastern part are marked as Armenia, and in the southeast, as Kurdistan. The areas highlighted in red indicate those regions where the Ottoman Turkey carried out the extermination of Armenians during the genocide.
