Marukyan Proposes to Postpone All Mass Events and Close All Educational Institutions
The leader of the LHK faction in the National Assembly, Edmond Marukyan, has proposed to the ruling team to postpone all mass events and close all educational institutions. He communicated this through his Facebook page. Below is the publication:
“The World Health Organization has declared a pandemic. In many European cities, gatherings of up to one hundred people are prohibited. Alongside this, three more coronavirus carriers have been identified in Armenia. This is an extremely concerning fact, the danger of which multiplies when considering the potential for its spread. Of course, we hope that we can avoid this outlook, but at this moment, we have what we have, and to correctly respond to the challenge, it is necessary to first accurately assess the situation.
In the created dangerous situation, all mass events should be halted and postponed. This proposal is based on the following critical necessities: it is unacceptable to hold mass events in the face of the dangerous threat of pandemic spread. At this moment, it would be appropriate for the political leadership, the opposition, civil society, and the public at large to focus their attention on the most pressing threat we face right now—the neutralization of the coronavirus. This is truly a national security issue that requires the maximum concentration of all available resources.
Let us assess the situation accurately. Instead of a postscript, I would like to remind everyone that we have repeatedly urged to stop all flights from Italy to Armenia in due time, but our requests went unanswered.”
