State Duma Approves Bill Amending the Russian Constitution
The State Duma of the Russian Federation has approved a bill aimed at making amendments to the country's Constitution. The document was introduced to the lower house of parliament on January 20.
The proposed changes relate to constitutional order, rights and freedoms, and provisions concerning citizens. The bill also includes a new clause for a nationwide voting process.
A total of 983 deputies voted in favor of the bill, with no votes against and 43 lawmakers abstaining.
In the period from the bill's submission until its approval, more than 400 proposals for amendments were received from all Duma factions, with at least 200 of these being accepted and 175 categorically rejected.
