Spring is a Fantastic Time to Visit Gyumri: Forbes' Feature
The American magazine Forbes has published a list of "17 Most Beautiful Places to Travel in Spring," which includes Gyumri, the second largest city in Armenia.
With new budget airlines from Germany and Greece entering the market, Gyumri is finally being viewed as more than just a city affected by the 1988 Spitak earthquake.
"Spring is a fantastic time to visit Gyumri as the harsh winter recedes, and the city blooms with flowers. It is preparing to celebrate Easter with delicious fruit and pilaf with raisins," the magazine notes, highlighting that Gyumri features modern cafés and shops, a variety of cultural centers, unique spots, and some of the funniest locals in Armenia.
Forbes recommends trying panir khash at a local teahouse and sampling the various teas, visiting the puppet theater, and buying souvenirs crafted by local artisans.
