Court Imprisons Young Man Who Brutally Beat Mother and Daughter in Gyumri

On March 8, an investigator from the Shirak Regional Investigative Department of Armenia's Investigative Committee submitted a motion to the General Jurisdiction Court of Shirak Region in Gyumri, requesting that the court issue a two-month detention order for 28-year-old Davit Poghosyan, a resident of Shirakatsi Street in Gyumri.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, Poghosyan is suspected of brutally beating 43-year-old Mariam Kh. from Gyumri on March 5 of this year, which resulted in her death after she lost consciousness. He is also accused of assaulting her underage daughter.

As reported by G. Shamshyan, the court granted the investigator's request, and the young man, who has prior convictions, has been detained and transferred to a correctional facility.
