Compressed Gas Market: Dishonest Operators are the Winners

In a study of the compressed gas market, the State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition has found that businesses complying with legislative requirements often face unequal conditions compared to those violating the law. For instance, legislation stipulates that CNG filling stations must be at least 2 kilometers apart, but there are known instances where this is not the case.

Another example is that, according to the relevant regulations, the pressure at the end of charging should not exceed 19.6 MPa (equivalent to 200 atmospheres); however, there have been cases where this criterion has not been adhered to. As a result, those companies that comply with the legislative requirements and operate honestly find themselves at a disadvantage. Customers often prefer to refuel at filling stations that provide higher pressure, disregarding safety considerations, under the assumption that this leads to better gas cylinder refueling.
