First Case of Coronavirus Infection Confirmed in Berlin
A new case of coronavirus infection has been confirmed in Berlin, with the patient hospitalized and in stable condition. This was reported on March 2 by the public health department of Germany's capital.
"The infected individual is a young person living in the Mitte district. Their condition is stable. They have been isolated at the Charité clinic and are undergoing testing," stated a press release from the department.
Authorities have identified ten people who have come into contact with the patient. This includes residents of both Berlin and the North Rhine-Westphalia region. All of them are currently under home quarantine and will be tested for the virus, while authorities continue to search for other individuals who may have had contact with the patient.
As of March 1, Germany has confirmed 129 cases of coronavirus. Thus, the Berlin patient has become the 130th infected individual. The virus has been reported in 10 of the 16 federal states of Germany, according to RIA Novosti.
