Regulatory Commission to Fine Veolia Water 10 Million Drams
The Public Services Regulatory Commission is set to impose a fine of 10 million drams on Veolia Water. The draft decision is included in the agenda for the extraordinary session of the Commission on February 27.
During the administrative proceedings, it was established that the company violated the provisions of Article 16 of the regulations for the provision of drinking water supply and wastewater services, as approved by the Commission's decision dated November 30, 2016. Specifically, this occurred in at least 19 cases during the third quarter of 2019. According to these regulations, the supplier is required to provide technical conditions to the applicant within 20 working days from the date the application is received, in case the applicant is constructing a new system, or a unilaterally signed connection agreement if the Company is constructing a new system.
The draft points out that the company has breached the requirement of Article 16 by failing to present either the unilaterally signed connection agreement or technical conditions to the applicants, or by presenting them after the stipulated deadline. In at least 18 cases, applicants were not duly notified about the issues that had arisen.
