Police Aware That Drivers Are Attempting to Sell Points
During a parliamentary discussion titled "Current Issues of Road Traffic and Ways to Address Them" held today in the National Assembly, the Head of the Traffic Police, Egor Karapetyan, announced that after the implementation of the points system for road traffic violations, there have been incidents of drivers attempting to sell their points in Armenia. However, the Traffic Police is capable of uncovering and preventing such trades, as the violations captured by cameras clearly show the driver's face.
“In many developed countries, including France, the concept of selling points has existed, but by studying France's practices and shortcomings, we have implemented preventive measures in our legislative framework that make it very easy for us to identify those involved,” Karapetyan noted.
It is worth reminding that as of January 1st this year, a new system of penalty points has come into effect in Armenia. This system has been operational for violations recorded by cameras since January 1st, and for violations recorded by Traffic Police inspectors since September 1st.
