Video: Roof of Sports and Concert Complex Collapses in St. Petersburg

In St. Petersburg, the roof of the "Petersburg" sports and concert complex has collapsed, according to a statement from the local branch of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported by "RIA Novosti." The incident occurred during the dismantling of the building. There may be workers trapped under the debris. The total area of the collapse could be between 25,000 to 28,000 square meters.

Sixty-eight rescue workers and 18 units of equipment are currently on the scene. It had been reported earlier that reconstruction work was set to begin on the building.

Moreover, footage of the roof's collapse has been circulating online. In January, a concession agreement was reached for the reconstruction and operation of the "Petersburg" sports and concert complex. According to the project, a modern ice rink with a capacity of at least 20,000 spectators is expected to be built there for the 2023 World Hockey Championship.
