Difficult Roads in Armenia; Larsi Pass Open
As of 15:00 on January 16, heavy snowfall is reported on the highways in the regions of Lori, Noyemberyan, Tumanyan, Stepanavan, Kotayk, Harazdan, Sevan, Dilijan, Ijevan, Tavush, Chambarak, Gavar, Goris, and Meghri. There are patches of black ice on the Goris–Kapan highway. The Vardenyats Pass is closed to heavy and trailer vehicles due to snow and black ice, while remaining vehicles can pass with difficulty.
Road construction workers are conducting snow removal and treatment with salt and sand on the highways. Other inter-state and republican roads are open. To avoid accidents, incidents, and traffic jams, drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires.
According to the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, as of 15:30 on January 16, the Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Upper Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.
