Emergency Incident in Yerevan: Son Suspected of Attempted Murder of Mother

An emergency situation has been reported in Yerevan where a son is suspected of attempting to murder his mother. The Investigative Committee of Armenia is preparing materials related to this incident which occurred on December 8 in the Shengavit administrative district.

According to Shamshyan.com, at around 15:50, a resident of Upper Charbakh Street, 65-year-old Hasmik M., alerted the Shengavit police department, reporting that her son had doused her with gasoline and was trying to set her on fire.

A police operational group led by the head of the Shengavit division, Rafael Poghosyan, and an investigation team headed by investigator Vardan Janbaryants quickly arrived at the scene. Preliminary reports indicate that during an argument, the son poured gasoline on himself and the floor of the bedroom and attempted to ignite it, but for reasons beyond his control, he did not complete the act.

According to website sources, the act may be reclassified from attempted murder to intentional destruction of property, and the suspect, 46-year-old Gagik M., is categorized as having a second-degree disability.
