Banana Stuck to Wall with Duct Tape Sold for $120,000
At the Art Basel Miami contemporary art fair, a banana affixed to a white wall with duct tape has been sold for $120,000, according to CNN. The minimalist artwork is by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and is titled "Comedian." It is known that for a year, Cattelan looked at the banana in the room to find inspiration.
Reportedly, the first piece was purchased by a French woman, and the second one by a French man. Both were sold for $20,000 each.
The source reminds that this is not Cattelan's first unusual work; the Italian is also the creator of the famous 18-karat gold toilet.
