Snow Falling in Ashotzk, Vardenyats Pass Closed for Trucks
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of December 4, at 11:01 AM, there are impassable road conditions in the territory of the Republic of Armenia. The Vardenyats Pass (from the Gegharkunik region) is closed for trucks with trailers. The Sotk-Karvachar road is difficult to navigate for trucks, but open for other vehicles. There is black ice present on both the Vardenyats Pass and the Sotk-Karvachar road.
It is snowing in the Ashotzk region of Shirak Province. According to information received from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepanmtsinda-Lars road is open to all types of vehicles. Based on information from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations (EMERCOM) in the Republic of North Ossetia, there are approximately 230 trucks accumulated on the Russian side. Drivers are advised to use winter tires exclusively.
