As of 8:00 AM, Vardenyats Pass and Sotk-Karvachar Road Impassable
The Ministry of Emergency Situations informs that as of December 4, at 8:30 AM, there are impassable roads in the Republic of Armenia. The Vardenyats Pass and the Sotk-Karvachar road are impassable for trucks, while they are open for other types of vehicles.
There is black ice present on both Vardenyats Pass and the Sotk-Karvachar road. According to information received from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepanstminda-Larsi road is open for all types of vehicles. Information from the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation indicates that there is a backlog of approximately 230 trucks on the Russian side.
Drivers are advised to travel exclusively on winter tires. Construction work is taking place on the Vanadzor-Alaverdi-Bagratashen road, which has resulted in the section being closed for trucks. An alternative route has been established: Dilijan-Noyemberyan-Bagratashen.
