State Budget Recovered by Over 4 Billion Drams: Khachatryan

During this year alone, the Special Investigative Service has recovered an unprecedented amount of 4,331,935 AMD for the state budget from the criminal cases under its jurisdiction, which is seven times more than the total amount recovered from cases examined over the 11 years of the agency's existence, totaling 597,698,000 AMD.

This announcement was made by the head of the Special Investigative Service, Sasun Khachatryan, during a ceremony held on the occasion of the Day of the Agency's Employees. Khachatryan noted that this amount is just what has been transferred to the state budget, and in addition, many more assets have been seized from individuals involved in criminal cases, as well as from assets that have been the subject of crimes, the progress of which will be resolved through judicial acts.

In his speech, the head of the SIS emphasized that although the agency's holiday has traditionally been celebrated for 11 years, today it has received an official foundation, for which he sent a congratulatory message: “Compared to other law enforcement agencies, the SIS is quite young, but we can affirm that it is already a well-established organization that honorably fulfills its mission. SIS employees are well aware of the uniqueness of their assigned mission, as there is room for both small and great feats in every profession, and we must approach professionalism with that philosophy. Perhaps it sounds a bit immodest, but I believe everyone should be convinced of the uniqueness of their work.”

According to Sasun Khachatryan, the work of an SIS investigator requires intense effort, creativity, and significant responsibility at the expense of family and rest, and only devotees, as the SIS head stated, achieve significant success in this field.

Khachatryan also presented brief statistics on the criminal cases examined during the 11 months of this year: “This year, the SIS has investigated 655 criminal cases, of which 536 have been resolved, and 71 cases have been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion concerning 115 individuals. During the same period, 439 materials were prepared by the agency's investigators, 261 criminal cases were initiated, and 2,544 applications were received and discussed.”
