NSS Employees at Law Firm: Details

The investigator of the National Security Service (NSS) and one operational employee are currently at the "HSH Consulting" law firm, seeking to seize two computers belonging to attorneys Hovhannes Chamsaryan and Shushanik Tadevosyan.

Present at the location were Ara Zohrapyan, president of the Bar Association, spokesperson Haik Hakobyan, and attorneys Gurgen Grigoryan, Yervand Varosyan, who represents Chamsaryan and Tadevosyan, as well as co-founders of the public organization "Legal Path," attorneys Ruben Melikyan, Siranush Sahakyan, and others.

Hovhannes Chamsaryan stated in an interview with "A1+" that the investigator justified the action by claiming it was related to a criminal case concerning his client. "They presented a court decision based on which they want to conduct a search in the office and seize the computers, which, according to them, contain information that may be relevant to the case," he noted.

The attorney emphasized that the computers hold information protected by attorney-client privilege, which is safeguarded by domestic and international laws. He also mentioned that the court decision includes a reservation regarding attorney-client confidentiality and is subject to appeal.

Yervand Varosyan reported that he learned about the situation from Chamsaryan and came to the law firm. The attorney deemed the investigator's actions illegal and stated they were there to prevent it. "For some unclear reason, we are not being provided with the court decision," he stressed.

Ara Zohrapyan, president of the Bar Association, also referenced the law regarding attorney-client confidentiality in his comments to reporters. Zohrapyan stated that this issue should have been raised with high-ranking state officials, but he did not mention any names.

The NSS investigator refused to comment on his actions. After some time, Varosyan mentioned in a conversation with journalists that they reached an agreement, and the computers would not be taken. Currently, NSS employees are at the office and are preparing a report.
