Investigation Launched Into Circumstances of Incarcerated Individual's Suicide

A service inquiry has been initiated to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of an incarcerated individual found hanging at the "Armavir" Penitentiary Institution on November 16, following an order from the Minister of Justice. This inquiry will be conducted alongside the criminal case opened by the Investigative Committee.

In addition to the service inquiry, under the initiative of the Minister of Justice of Armenia, Rustam Badasyan, a study will be conducted with the involvement of relevant specialists on suicide cases that occurred in penitentiary institutions in 2019. The aim is to identify and prevent the causes of such incidents in correctional facilities.
