Driver Falls Asleep at the Wheel and Crashes, Passenger Hospitalized with Injuries
Today, November 15, an accident occurred in the Aragatsotn region. Around 17:40, 59-year-old Misak Gasparyan, a resident of the Armavir region, while driving his BMW with license plate 34 QF 575 on the 54th km of the Yerevan-Vanadzor highway towards Yerevan, veered into the oncoming lane, collided with boulders, and ended up flipped over in a field.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, the passenger suffered bodily injuries and was taken to the medical center in Aparan. Witnesses at the scene and the driver reported that the first to offer assistance were inspectors Gevorg Yeghiazaryan and Romik Nazaretian from the 1st platoon of the 2nd company of the Road Police, and the medical staff of the Aparan hospital acted promptly, providing first aid to the injured before transporting them to the hospital.
The driver also mentioned that the cause of the accident was that he hadn’t realized he had fallen asleep at the wheel.
