Armenia Does Not Consider Arms Sales to Azerbaijan by a CSTO Member State as Business, Says Foreign Minister

The Republic of Armenia does not view the sale of weapons to the Republic of Azerbaijan by a member state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) as a business transaction. This was stated by Armenia's Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan in response to a question from Tigran Karapetyan, a member of the 'My Step' parliamentary faction, during a session of the National Assembly on November 13.

“This issue is constantly on our agenda for discussions, both at the parliamentary and governmental levels. You know our approach; we do not regard it as business. This is weaponry directed against our people, and of course, the sensitivity of this issue is quite high,” said Mnatsakanyan.

On June 11, 2018, it became known that Belarus had supplied 'Polonez' multiple launch rocket systems to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration ceremony of a missile regiment of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense on June 11, and images displayed on the official website of the Ministry of Defense showed the Belarusian-made 'Polonez' systems.
