The Study of Church History is an Artificially Imported Subject, Says My Step Bloc Member
The study of Church History is an artificially imported subject. This was stated by the Member of Parliament from the My Step bloc, Taguhi Ghazaryan, in an interview with Factor.am.
When asked what her stance is on removing the subject of “History of the Armenian Church” from the list of school subjects and whether a confrontation between the Church and the Government is possible, the parliament member responded:
“What is the justification? Church history is linked to patriotism. I studied Church history in school, unlike you. So does that mean that I am a better patriot than you? I cannot actually make such an assertion about any citizen, because I am confident that all citizens of the Republic of Armenia love their country very much, and there is no need to seek ways to teach them how to love their homeland. Each of them knows how to love their homeland, and it is not artificial or taught. As for Church history, I believe it is an artificially imported subject.”
