Six Dead and 345 Injured in Earthquake in Iran

As a result of an earthquake that struck 45 km south of Ardabil, Iran, on the night of November 8, the death toll has reached six, and 345 people have been injured. This was reported by the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations' Information and Public Relations Department, citing the news agency RIA Novosti.

The earthquake was registered on November 8 at 02:47 local time (22:47 GMT) by the seismic monitoring network of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, with geographic coordinates of 37.820° north latitude and 48.340° east longitude, at a depth of 10 km and a magnitude of 5.9. The intensity of the tremors in the epicentral zone was assessed at 8-9 on the Richter scale.

The earthquake was felt in the cities of Kapan, Meghri, and Goris in Armenia's Syunik province with a strength of 4, and in Yeghegnadzor and Vayk in Vayots Dzor province with a strength of 3-4. The intensity recorded in the city of Ararat and in Yerevan was rated at 3.
