Nairi Hunanyan Will Not Be Released, Minister Clarifies
The Minister of Justice, Rustam Badasyan, addressed the inquiry regarding the conditional early release application of Nairi Hunanyan, one of the participants in the October 27 massacre. During the question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly, the minister noted that there could be several scenarios regarding the application.
“The first scenario is if both the probation service and the penitentiary service give a positive conclusion, then the corresponding motion is submitted to the court. If one of the two agencies provides a positive conclusion and the other a negative one, then, with the written consent of the convict, the issue may be discussed in court. If both give a negative conclusion, then the discussion of the issue is considered rejected. In this case, the penitentiary service has already issued a negative conclusion. Given that the probation service will follow the same criteria, I believe the outcome is clear,” the minister explained, according to Armenpress.
