VIDEO: Sexual Insults Directed at Police Officer - Clarification

The Police of the Republic of Armenia has issued a statement regarding an incident that occurred on October 21.

“A video was circulated online showing police officers detaining a man at the Mashtots police station. It should be clarified that prior to being detained, the individual in question, ignoring the fact that his actions were visible and audible to others in the store, directed sexual insults towards a police officer. The officer made a lawful request to the citizen to cease his illegal behavior; however, the man did not comply with the officer's demands and continued his antisocial actions, which led to his detention on suspicion of hooliganism. He was subsequently arrested.”

The statement further noted that this was not the first time the arrested man had been detained on suspicion of hooliganism. Earlier this summer, he was involved in a traffic accident. Emergency medical personnel and traffic police arrived at the scene of the accident, during which the man physically assaulted the emergency and traffic police officers and directed sexual insults at them in a public place, which continued even at the medical facility.

“The officers of the Mashtots police station again detained him, where he once again displayed inappropriate behavior. A criminal case was initiated against him for hooliganism, and the detainee was arrested. He was later charged, with the measure of constraint set as a signature.”
