Officials of the Ministry of Defense Accused of Corruption

The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that the head of the radio reconnaissance and navigation center of the Armenian Ministry of Defense, A. Khachatryan, has found himself in the defendant's chair. He was informed that a soldier from another military unit, Lieutenant H. Khachatryan, wanted to transfer to the radio research center.

A. Khachatryan, pretending that he had supposedly made an arrangement with superiors, stated that H. Khachatryan needed to pay a large sum of 2000 USD, equivalent to 965,140 AMD, to facilitate the process of transferring to the specified center.

According to the arrangement, on the same day, H. Khachatryan transferred to A. Khachatryan 1800 USD, equivalent to 868,626 AMD, while the remaining 200 USD, equivalent to 96,514 AMD, was delivered to A. Khachatryan by intermediary A. Movsisyan. This constituted a fraudulent method of soliciting a bribe and encouraging an attempt to offer a large bribe.
