Syria is Under Control, Says Trump

U.S. President Donald Trump, during a joint press conference with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, stated that Syria is "completely under control."

"I am not surprised by President Erdogan's decision, because he has wanted to do this for a long time. Frankly, if Russia is willing to help the Kurds in terms of defense, that’s a good thing, it's not bad, but that operation will be led by Syria. And Syria does not want Turkey to invade its territory. I understand that. But what does that have to do with the United States if they are fighting over Syrian land?" Trump said.

The White House chief also mentioned that he won't fight against a NATO member for the sake of Syria, which is not his ally. On the other hand, Sergio Mattarella announced that Italy shares the EU's position and condemns Turkey's military actions in Syria.

In addition, the U.S.-led international anti-terror coalition has destroyed munitions in Syria that remained after the troops' withdrawal.
