Kurds' Second Major Response to Turkish Attacks: Casualties Reported
The Kurds are responding to the military operation "Peace Spring," initiated by the Turkish Armed Forces against them in Syria.
Syrian Kurdish forces have shelled the Kurdish-populated provinces of Mardin and Şanlıurfa near the Turkish border, resulting in casualties among civilians in both provinces.
A Turkish source, citing statements from the governors of Mardin and Şanlıurfa, reports that the number of injured in the two provinces has reached 69, with 7 fatalities. Of the injured, 45 are from Şanlıurfa and 24 from Mardin. Among the 7 deceased, one was a Syrian child.
Just the day before, Kurdish forces opened fire towards the districts of Akçakale and Ceylanpınar along the Turkish-Syrian border.
It is noteworthy that the operation against the Kurds began on October 9. The Turkish military's incursion into Syria occurred at a time when American armed units withdrew from the eastern part of the Euphrates River.
