Most Armenians in Shelling Area Have Left: Mkhitar Hayrapetyan

It has just been reported that most of the Armenian families from the town of Tell Abiad in Syria have relocated to the Hasakeh province and Aleppo. Fortunately, there are no reported casualties.

This information was shared on Facebook by Mkhitar Hayrapetyan, the chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth, and Sports, indicating that there are 16 Armenian families present.

“According to some reports, Armenians have also left the town of Ras al-Ain. As for Qamishli, we have around 3,000 Armenians who continue to remain in the city. At this moment, as the residents and municipal authorities inform, there is no need for evacuation,” he stated in his post.

He further noted that the Armenian Embassy in Syria and the Consulate General in Aleppo are performing considerable work, with diplomats maintaining regular communication with the Armenian community in northeastern Syria.

Earlier, Mkhitar Hayrapetyan had reported that Turkish army units had entered Tell Abiad, where the 16 Armenian families are located. He stated that plans are underway to organize their evacuation soon. “Moreover, Qamishli, where there are also a significant number of Armenians, is under fire,” he added.
