Hraparak: In Parakar, Sasun Mikayelyan's Candidate Has Lost
Hraparak newspaper reports that the local government elections on Sunday concluded with interesting results in 19 communities of Armenia. The incumbent community heads who were nominated have primarily been re-elected. A significant number of them are independents, with even long-time members of the Republican Party of Armenia resigning from their party affiliation.
Re-elected were Hrayr Galstyan, the head of the New Kesar community in Armavir province, the current mayor of Tandzut, Mkhitar Petrosyan, and Hayk Asatryan, the head of Ghazaravan community in Aragatsotn. Also re-elected was Manvel Sargsyan, a member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation, who led the Mrganush community in Ararat province for 21 years.
In contrast, in the Armavir community of Parakar, the long-standing mayor Samvel Vardanyan lost to the candidate David Minasyan, who has a criminal record. Notably, Sasun Mikayelyan's candidate also could not secure victory in Parakar.
Details are available in today’s edition of the newspaper.
