Court of Appeals Dismisses Robert Kocharyan's Defense Team's Appeal Without Hearing
The Court of Appeals of Armenia, presided over by Judge Mher Argyamanyan, has dismissed without hearing the appeal from the defense team of former President Robert Kocharyan against the court's decision to keep his pretrial measures unchanged. The appellate court found that the decision of the first instance court is not subject to appeal.
Based on a Constitutional Court decision, Robert Kocharyan's legal team requested the immediate lifting of the presidency's pretrial detention and the cessation of criminal proceedings against him. However, the first instance court rejected the request.
On September 19, defense attorneys Hovhannes Khudoyan and Aram Orbelyan filed an appeal against the aforementioned decision of the first instance court. Additionally, recently, Robert Kocharyan's lawyer Aram Vardevanyan submitted an appeal against the first instance decision.
