Altercation in Gndevaz: One Person Arrested by Investigative Committee
The Investigative Committee of Armenia has initiated a case regarding an act of hooliganism that occurred in the village of Gndevaz. This information was provided by the press service of the Investigative Committee.
On August 25, 2019, a 57-year-old man reported to the Armenian police in Jermuk that he had been assaulted by a group of individuals in the village of Gndevaz. During the preparation of materials based on this report, it was revealed that on August 24, 2019, around 10:30 PM, the 57-year-old man had made a comment to a group of individuals loudly chanting 'Amulsar without a mine' in the central square of Gndevaz.
One of them, a 24-year-old resident of Kechut, took the remark poorly and, driven by hooligan motives, assaulted him along with several other young men, also hurling insults.
Following the incident, a criminal case was opened at the Jermuk police station, with characteristics of Article 258, Part 3, Item 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code, and was sent to the Investigative Committee of Vayots Dzor for further investigation.
As a result of necessary actions taken under the criminal case, the 24-year-old young man was arrested. A decision has also been made to arrest another participant in the incident, a 22-year-old individual, with the execution being entrusted to the relevant police division. The preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are being undertaken to identify other participants in the incident, locate them, and present them to the prosecuting authority.
