Prime Minister Says There Are No Grounds to Halt Amulsar Operations; Environmentalists Will Continue Their Struggle
The spokesperson for the Prime Minister of Armenia, Vladimir Karapetyan, stated in a press briefing after a meeting with environmentalists and activists regarding the Amulsar issue that no conclusions were reached during the discussion. SHANTNEWS.am reminded Karapetyan that environmentalists assert that Prime Minister Pashinyan declared Amulsar should be exploited.
“The Prime Minister said something else. He stated that there are currently no grounds to halt the exploitation, but he did not say that it must be exploited. I do not believe that the entire procedure has been completed; as we have always said, everything will be very transparent,” he said.
Karapetyan informed that the transcript of the discussions with the Prime Minister will be published within a few hours, which will provide answers to many questions. The Prime Minister's spokesperson also noted that there are currently no grounds for conducting a new examination.
The environmentalists were not satisfied with the meeting. They informed journalists that the Prime Minister said that the Amulsar mine should be exploited, and thus they have decided to continue their struggle.
