Judges Targeted for Unfavorable Decisions, Says Gevorg Petrosyan
I do not wish for it to later become clear that the measures being taken against Davit Grigoryan stem from the authorities' intention for revenge. This was stated today, August 3, during a meeting with reporters by Gevorg Petrosyan, a lawmaker from the Prosperous Armenia party.
“To provide a legal assessment of how the measures taken against Judge Davit Grigoryan align with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, one must be aware of the circumstances of the case. I am not familiar with the details of the case, but I must emphasize that I personally know Davit Grigoryan. He is a very decent person, a knowledgeable lawyer, a civil servant with an unblemished past. However, not knowing the circumstances of the case, I cannot say what has transpired. They say there have been violations, but I do not want it to later turn out that the measures against Davit Grigoryan are rooted in the authorities' intention for revenge,” he noted.
The lawmaker finds it strange that judges are being targeted for making decisions that are unfavorable to the government.
