Approximately 26 Million Drams Compensated to the Ejmiatsin Municipality for Damages
The investigation into the apparent abuses found at the Vagharchapat/Ejmiatsin municipality continues in the General Division and the Investigation of Electoral Crimes of the RA Investigative Committee. During the investigation, approximately 26,000,000 AMD has been recovered from the damages incurred to the community. This was reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
Previously, it was announced that factual data had been obtained regarding the apparent abuses associated with the initiated criminal case. Based on sufficient evidence collected, charges have been brought against the former head of the Ejmiatsin city community under Article 38-179, part 3, point 1 (three episodes), Article 38-179, part 2, points 1 and 3 (two episodes), and Article 38-179, part 2, point 1, as well as Article 179, part 2, points 1 and 3 of the RA Criminal Code.
The director of the budgetary institution under the "Improvement" management has been charged under Article 179, part 3, point 1 (two episodes) and Article 179, part 2, point 1, while the former head of the "Housing Communal Administration" budgetary institution has been charged under Article 179, part 3, point 1 and Article 179, part 2, points 1 and 3 (two episodes).
Preventive measures of an undertaking not to leave the country have been selected for the former head of the Ejmiatsin city community, the director of "Improvement" management, and the former head of the "Housing Communal Administration".
During the preliminary investigation, approximately 26,000,000 AMD has been recovered from the damages incurred by the municipality, of which 23,250,000 AMD has been deposited into the RA Investigative Committee's deposit account, while 2,750,000 AMD, which represents unpaid taxes since 2013 by the economic entities of Vagharchapat city, has been transferred to the community budget.
The preliminary investigation is ongoing. The examination is being conducted to clarify the total amount of damages, identify all individuals allegedly involved in the crime, individualize their actions, and provide a legal assessment of the crimes.
