Armenian Citizens Will Be Able to Obtain Temporary Residency Permits in Russia Through Simplified Procedures
Russia intends to ease its migration legislation, allowing a broader range of foreigners to obtain temporary residency permits and residence permits through simplified procedures. This was reported by Rusarminfo.
It is noted that the timeframe for processing applications for temporary residency permits will be reduced to four months, while the residency permit will be indefinite. The relevant draft law has been prepared by the Russian government.
According to the proposals, citizens born in Russia but who have since resided in other countries may obtain temporary residence permits without quotas under an international agreement on the protection of refugee rights and the regulation of resettlement processes. Such an agreement has been signed with Armenia and several other countries, as reported by the Russian Parliamentary Gazette.
It is mentioned that the State Duma of Russia will consider this draft law in its third reading during a plenary session set to commence on July 23. Additionally, Izvestia reports that from January to April 2019, there was a sharp increase in the migration growth of the population in the Russian Federation, exceeding all indicators of the past decade, according to research from the Gaidar Institute. The study indicates that the most significant influx of immigrants came from Armenia and Ukraine, while migration growth from Belarus and Moldova has sharply decreased.
