Turkey is Gradually Sinking into a Heavy Socio-Economic Crisis, Expert
Expert on Turkish-Kurdish conflict Karen Hovhannisyan wrote on his Facebook page: "Turkey is gradually sinking into a heavy socio-economic crisis. Despite the efforts of the Turkish government to convince that Turkish citizens enjoy a favorable socio-economic situation, and that Syrian refugees are the issue, state statistics suggest otherwise.
For instance, in the period from January to May 2019, there was an increase of 57.6% compared to the same period in 2018. Compared to the same period in 2018, there was a 52% increase compared to 2017. The number of applications for benefits increased by only 1.6% between 2016-17. I believe the difference is obvious.
My research is ongoing, and I will soon present a comprehensive socio-economic overview by provinces, including inflation by product categories."
