Concerning Figures: Summer Temperatures in Yerevan Expected to Rise by 7.6 Degrees
The Minister of Environment of Armenia has reported that, according to a study by scientists from Zurich University, summer temperatures in Yerevan are expected to increase by up to 7.6 degrees, while winter temperatures could rise by 5.2 degrees.
"Scientists from Zurich University have calculated the impacts of climate change for around 500 cities (from 2000 to 2050, with a 2-degree increase). The forecast for Yerevan is, to put it mildly, not very optimistic; summer temperatures will increase by up to 7.6 degrees, while winter temperatures will rise by 5.2 degrees, making it comparable to the current climate in Tashkent. Large-scale afforestation and reservoir construction in Armenia is an URGENT NEED," stated the Minister of Environment of the Republic of Armenia.
