About 80 Heads Saved: Laboratory Examination to Be Conducted – Gevorg Avetisyan
The head of the State Food Safety Inspection Body of Armenia, Gevorg Avetisyan, wrote on his Facebook page: "Dear compatriots, these incidents are under our control. There have not been dozens of deaths; there have been 4 cases, and through the efforts of veterinarians, about 80 heads have been saved. The incident occurred in the forests near the village of Karchaghbyur, where there is a marshy area where marsh grass grows.
Specialists know that young, wet marsh grass causes bloating in ruminants, resulting in deaths. Preliminary data suggest that this is the cause. We will know more precisely after the completion of the relevant diagnostic procedures. I have instructed that laboratory specialists go to the site of the incident.
Note: Such incidents frequently occur in that area."
