National Security Service Uncovers Major Drug Trafficking Case
The staff of the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia have uncovered a major drug trafficking case following extensive operational and investigative measures aimed at combating the illegal circulation of drugs and smuggling.
Specifically, the NSS personnel received operational information indicating that individuals involved in the illegal drug trade were seeking ways to sell a particularly large quantity of "methamphetamine" that had been smuggled into Armenia. Under the framework of the operational-investigative measure named "Controlled Purchase," they organized the purchase of the drug and identified those involved.
Under the operational control of the NSS, a sum of $50,000 was presented to the individuals involved in the drug sale. Believing the transaction to be genuine, they transported 1 kg of methamphetamine to the designated location for the buyer. Immediately afterward, they were uncovered and apprehended.
A criminal case has been initiated at the NSS Investigative Department based on the apparent criminal act, and charges have been brought against two individuals, who have since been arrested. The preliminary investigation is ongoing.
