Closure of Yerevan-Tbilisi Railway
Former employees of the Alaverdi Copper Smelter have once again staged a protest. The director of the "A-C-P" company, Lusine Mejlumyan, met with them and stated that the company had paid salaries for six months during the idle period, hoping for positive progress regarding the reopening of the factory. However, she indicated that it is no longer feasible to continue paying employees under these circumstances.
As reported by shantnews.am, the director explained that the factory cannot operate within the permissible limits of emissions set by the government. She mentioned that they can no longer pay employees and are compelled to dissolve employment contracts.
Following the meeting with the company’s director, the dismissed employees blocked the Yerevan-Tbilisi railway.
