Volkswagen and BMW X5 Collide in Kotayk Province: 3 Dead and 5 Injured
On June 30, a tragic car accident occurred in Kotayk Province. Around 03:30, vehicles collided near the inactive traffic police checkpoint at the 40th km of the Yerevan-Sevan highway. According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan from the scene, the accident involved a resident of Yerevan, 26-year-old Davit Manukyan, the driver of the BMW, H. Hayrapetyan, and passengers, including 64-year-old Anyuta Movsisyan, 9-year-old Narek Safaryan, and 9-year-old Alisa Safaryan, all residents of Hrazdan. They were transported to the Hrazdan Medical Center with injuries, while three individuals died at the scene.
By order of the investigator, the vehicles were towed to the special storage area of the Hrazdan police department. The police and the investigative department are in the process of identifying the driver of the Volkswagen, the deceased, and all the injured parties. According to preliminary information, the cause of the accident was the driver of the Volkswagen, who made an unauthorized turn while heading towards Yerevan, creating an emergency situation for the driver of the BMW X5, which led to the accident.
