Armenian Suspect in Russian Special Forces Officer's Murder Sends Video Message
The Armenian suspect, Grigor Ohanyan, in the murder of a Russian special forces officer, denies any involvement in the crime and plans to appeal to the court. This was reported by Вести.
Ohanyan stated that he has not fled anywhere and has not been in Armenia for more than two years. He also reported that Armenian law enforcement had already visited his parents' home in Yerevan to ascertain his whereabouts.
He claims that he voluntarily presented himself to the Investigative Committee of Russia and reported that on the day of the murder, he was far from the bar where the killing of Belyankin occurred.
“I was at the Investigative Committee of Russia today and yesterday evening. They informed me that everyone has been apprehended, everything is normal, and it does not concern me in any way. I was in shock. I was attending my friend's son's 20th birthday celebration that day; it was a big event,” the man stated.
Publications that labeled him a “murderer” were sent to Ohanyan by friends. Initially, he deemed it all a ridiculous joke, but as calls from acquaintances and friends began to flood in, he became anxious.
“I was in shock and immediately went to the Investigative Committee. I will sue all the television channels that portrayed me as a murderer. This is a great moral damage; the whole world has seen me as a murderer, and I do not know why,” he said.
