Court Case Filed Against Minister of Justice Artak Zeynalanyan
The newspaper "Zhoghovurd" reports that a lawsuit has been filed against the Minister of Justice of Armenia, Artak Zeynalanyan, by former Deputy Head of the Penitentiary Service, Arsen Afrikyan. Afrikyan previously served as the head of the "Abovyan" and later the "Penitentiary Hospital" prisons and was dismissed due to corruption revelations. However, he was later appointed as the deputy head of the Penitentiary Service.
Following the Velvet Revolution, in August, the new authorities released him from his position. Afrikyan is now demanding that the court compel the Minister of Justice to annul the orders dismissing him and to reinstate him in the position of first deputy head of the Penitentiary Service.
