Translator Appointed Head of Water Resources Committee. Why? "Zhamanak"
“Zhamanak” newspaper reports: “On March 29, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan appointed Vardan Melkonyan as the head of the State Committee for Water Resources, replacing Inesa Gabayan. This appointment has been accepted in the system with the phrase: ‘we got out of the ditch, and fell into the ant.’
The issue is that Melkonyan is not a specialist in the field; he is so far removed from this system that his biography has not been published anywhere. According to specialists familiar with the system, he is a translator by profession and has only interacted with the system in that capacity.
Several experienced candidates were proposed to Prime Minister Pashinyan, who could lead the system, but it is unclear why he settled on Melkonyan.”
