The spokesperson for the Central Bank, Harut Kbeian-Berberyan, addressed the reports in the "Zhamanak" newspaper on his Facebook page, which claim that the dram will devalue by the end of the year.
"Dear media colleagues, the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia conducts a floating exchange rate policy, and moreover, all actions of the Central Bank regarding the buying and selling of exchange rates are transparent and published on the official website of the Central Bank. This provides a great opportunity for analysts to be informed about all movements," Kbeian-Berberyan clarified.
He added, "In the past, there have been news reports based on one media outlet's 'information' containing similar content, which, apart from creating baseless and unfounded expectations, do not carry any other 'useful' information and lack any justification. We urge the fans of 'agreements' to not hesitate to reach out to the official sources of the Central Bank for obtaining information before creating news."
