Abuses in Yerevan Metro: 'Zhamanak'

'Zhamanak' newspaper reports that serious abuses exist in the Yerevan metro. For years, the metro has declared significant losses, receiving enormous state subsidies from the government.

All of this has been made possible, in part, due to Ani Gspoyan, the person responsible for managing the metro's purchases. She is the daughter of Edik Gspoyan, the head of the Large Taxpayers Inspectorate and considered the right-hand man of the Deputy Head of the State Revenue Committee, Rafik Mashadyan. It is difficult to imagine that Edik Gspoyan could conduct objective oversight of the Large Taxpayers Inspection when his daughter is responsible for purchases in the metro,” the newspaper writes.
