Road Closures and Difficult Conditions Across the Republic

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reports that as of February 2 at 23:00, there are road closures and difficult driving conditions throughout the Republic of Armenia.

The Vardenyats Pass is open only for passenger vehicles, with low visibility reported.

The Sotk-Karvachar road is impassable.

There are patches of black ice on the roads in the Sotk-Karvachar, Gyumri-Spitak, Ashtarak, Amasia regions, and in the Syunik and Aragatsotn provinces.

Snow is falling in the Vardenyats Pass, on the Sotk-Karvachar road, in the "Meghri Mountain" area of Syunik, in the town of Aparan in Aragatsotn, in Vardenis of Gegharkunik, and in the Aragats region.

Blizzards are occurring in the Ashtarak region of Shirak, at the Vardenyats Pass, and on the Sotk-Karvachar road.

Drivers are advised to travel exclusively with winter tires.

According to information from the Road Department of the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure of Georgia, the Stepantsminda-Lars road is open for all types of vehicles.

According to the information from the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation in North Ossetia, there are trucks accumulated on the Russian side.
