New Bill in Azerbaijan: Change in Military Service Duration
Azerbaijan plans to reduce the duration of military service for officers during peacetime. This applies to officers who are conscripted from the reserve for compulsory military service, as well as those who voluntarily enter into contract service.
According to the proposed amendments, the total duration of service will be reduced by six months. The goal is to adjust the conditions of military service to meet current requirements and to revise the regulations regarding the involvement of officers during peacetime.
The legislative changes are currently under discussion in the Azerbaijani parliament, the Milli Mejlis.
If the amendments are adopted, the new regulations will apply during peacetime and will not pertain to the conditions of martial law. The final decision will be made following discussions and votes in the Milli Mejlis.
